AAC Awareness

International AAC Awareness Month is celebrated around the world each October. The goal is to raise awareness of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and to inform the public about the many different ways in which people communicate using communication devices.

ISAAC-Canada and the nation would love to hear how you participated in this year’s festivities. Please remember to share your stories and photos by sending them to lrobinson@hollandbloorview.ca. All submissions will be included in a future edition of Figuratively Speaking and must be received no later than October 31th in order to meet the translation deadline. Each submission is entitled to a draw for a free ISAAC Canada Membership for a person who uses AAC.

This year, in Canada AAC Awareness Day will take place on October 12, 2017. We would like everyone across the nation to participate so please be sure to mark your calendars. Past events have included silent lunches, hands-on activities, presentations, guest speakers, and AAC relays.
